Bishop Jaya Rao Polimera
The second Bishop of Eluru

Most Rev. Jaya Rao Polimera was born on August 27, 1965, at Dharmasagar in Warangal district, Telangana, to late P.Yobu and Mariamma. He has three brothers and two sisters. He completed his primary and high school education at Dharmasagar.

He joined for the diocese of Warangal on June 10, 2181. During 1982-1984, he completed Pre University course at Andhra Loyola College, Vijayawada. He completed his philosophy (1985-1991) and Theology at St. John’s Regional Seminary, Hyderabad. He was ordained Priest on April 2, 1992, at Fatima Cathedral, Warangal. During his stay in Hyderabad, he completed his post graduation in LLB. He is also a graduate in Karnatic classical music. He completed his post graduation (M.A., Masters of Arts, Eng. Lit.), LLM (Masters / Corporation Law) and Masters Degree in Organizational Leadership Culture & Communications from Siena Heights University, USA – 1999-2002.

In the past 22 years of his Priestly journey he did his best as a Priest in different capacities. The Diocese of Eluru witnessed one of the epoch-making events in her history by electing me as the second bishop of Eluru. He was elected as the second Bishop of Eluru on June 13, 2013, by Pope Francis. The Diocese of Eluru gave a warm welcome when he visited for the first time on June 19, 2013. He was elected as the Bishop second Bishop of Eluru by His Ex. Salvatore Pennacchio, Apostolic Nuncio, India & Nepal, on July 25, 2013.
